In June 2018 Genevieve Leavold launched a crowd-funding project to find patrons willing to share an experience and sponsor a painting on the theme of Desire Paths. It grew from the artist’s curiosity about finding new and interesting ways of connecting people to art. The project was a success and raised enough to create 42 paintings for 41 patrons and fund an exhibition to share the works with the public.
Everyone who joined the project was asked to give a short story, idea or a few words on what ‘Desire Paths’ meant to them. Each painting in the exhibition is a response to an individual story – stories of love, strength, words of wisdom handed down and life’s simple pleasures. An accompanying video piece shares these stories.
