Roam

Roam is a duo exhibition featuring recent paintings by London-based artists Rebecca Gilpin and Henry Ward. Entitled Roam after the American new wave band B-52’s song, the exhibition is a celebration of music’s influence on both artists’ practices. Roam, ‘to move about aimlessly or unsystematically, especially over a wide area’, is moreover a reference to their shared interest in exploring the territory where abstraction and representation meet. With four paintings by each artist on show, Roam traces Gilpin’s and Ward’s individual and highly contemporary investigations of a theme brought to the forefront in Abstract Expressionism.
