Tall Tales of Transparent Things: What is a tall tale? “a story that may or may not be true but contains hard to believe details”

It is a story or a truth that has undergone a transformation through being repeated, embellished and exaggerated. It retains a relationship to the truth even if it has evolved and metamorphosed. A tall tale also asks to be questioned, it asks the viewer to interrogate it and pick it apart. Because it is “hard to believe” we are forced to think more about it. Art changes over time, it evolves through the process of being made. Artists tell stories through their work, but their work also tells their own stories. These are tall tales of transparent things.
