DIRECTIONS TO AWAY
October 28 - October 31

Lola-Rose Pedersen presents a series of embroidery works made in collaboration with Fine Cell Work stitchers, a charity that trains and pays people in prisons across England to produce fine needlework.
The series brings road markings and embroidery charts into dialogue as systems of instruction whose authority depends upon shared conventions and trust. Produced without traditional charts, the work explores how individual agency operates within prescribed structures, and how authorship is negotiated through collaboration.
The work considers how the language of roads become metaphors for life: paths, crossroads, lanes, wrong turns, destinations, junctions and dead ends are embedded within memoir, as though life unfold across a landscape.
This series posits questions about how individuals’ journeys are entangled with wider social systems, and how possibility and limitation are organised and distributed.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October, 1–5pm daily.
The private view will take place on Wednesday the 28th, 6–9pm.
There will also be additional events throughout the week, including embroidery workshops. For event announcements and booking details, follow Lola on Instagram at @LolaRose or visit lolarosepedersen.com.
We look forward to welcoming you.
