SUMMARY:The Nomadic Icons: Xiao Ge’s Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Fitzrovia Gallery is pleased to present The Nomadic Icons\, a solo exhibition by multimedia artist Xiao Ge. Through moving image and illustration\, the exhibition explores states of spiritual displacement and identity instability within contemporary global and digital landscapes. \nAbout the Artist:\nXiao Ge is a multimedia artist whose practice centers on East Asian identity and diasporic experience. Her works explore the poetics of memory\, longing\, and cultural displacement through video\, installation\, and digital forms. Drawing from East Asian aesthetic traditions and spatial symbolism\, she constructs contemplative visual environments where absence\, fragmentation\, and distance become tools for narrative. Her recent work focuses on how identity and memory are shaped through mediated spaces of viewing\, inviting subtle yet profound reflections on selfhood and belonging. \nIn the new series\, Xiao Ge focuses on the complex relationship between language\, sound\, and silence in cultural transfer and identity formation\, continuously exploring how individuals find their own position between “expressible” and “unexpressed” in cross-cultural contexts. Her works often construct multiple fields between reality and spiritual dimensions through virtual visual spaces\, symbolic architectural structures\, and religious spiritual symbols. \nBy juxtaposing sacred images with digital environments\, artists reveal emotional rifts beyond language\, guiding audiences to contemplate how identity is shaped and redefined within fluid and constantly changing cultural boundaries. \nAbout the Curator:\nFang Liu (Summer) is an independent curator and creative producer based in London\, focusing on the intersection between contemporary art practices and the cultural industry. Her practice sits at the intersection of contemporary art\, cultural research\, and spatial storytelling\, with a distinct focus on ecological aesthetics\, and collective memory. With a multidisciplinary background in cultural industry and art\, Fang Liu (Summer) brings a multidimensional perspective to curatorial work that navigates across the interdisciplinary fields of cultural research\, art\, and business.
